Here is another free download for a live looper.

Flyloops is an incredibly easy to use live software looper for PCs, it is designed specifically to generate live electronica music as opposed to ambient style or singer songwriter style music. The primary difference is an emphasis on loop interaction and independence and a de-emphasis on loop depth functions (such as randomize and

reverse).

Here is a quick breakdown of the functions, please note that all functions can be done immediately and on the fly

without stopping playback.

Basic Functions:
- Record independent loop of differing lengths, synced or not
- Stack (layer/overdub) infinitely on any of the loop tracks, with or without decay
- Stop any loop playback immediately or at the next master loop repeat
- Stutter (One-Shot)
- Record a B side compliment which plays serially to any of the 5 primary loops
- Transition any loop seamlessly from it's A to B side

Advanced Functions:
- Consolidate multiple loops into a single loop
- Multiply, Add (append), or Overwrite any loop
- Change which loop is the master
- Stop or Stutter all loops together, or some group of loops
- Crossfade between two groups of loops
- Scratch a group of loops as if on a turntable

Recording:
- Load or Save loops as wav files
- Record a live session including all playing loops and incoming audio (solos, etc.)

MIDI:
- Map any midi command to any function with a simple midi learn function

Coming Soon:
- VST compliance

see www.flyloops.com for screenshot, video demos, and free download.

Thanks,
Aaron

I am a musician / inventor down in Miami, I have been looping for quite some time, and only just now joined here.

I have a home-grown looper that I use which allows me to control loops independently of one another ... which I figure is pretty useful (but I am looking for feedback, of course). I also layer slightly differently .. instead of using a midi clock, I just have a notification that goes out every time the first loop you record goes back to it's 0 position .... so subsequent loops can start/stop recording on any master loop repeat (no need for multiply functions this way ... I think it is more intuitive... ).

I am trying to get as much feedback as possible since I need to make this as useful and user friendly as possible for both musicians and DJs (and the hybrids). This is a sponsored product and will be completed this spring.

Please check it out at www.flyloops.com.

There are several video demos there (a couple of which you can find on youtube, if you prefer).

I think watching the videos should give you a good idea of how it works ..... after that, just lemme know.

PS - anyone else here from Miami?

All Music Guide (www.allmusic.com) review: 4 out of 5 stars.

"Revolution Void is the compositional ensemble of Jonah Dempcy, and his recording of the same name is a strange blending of live band/ensemble-style instrumentation fused with other live and textural elements... The Revolution Void recording is excellent and shows quite a gifted blend of sounds that defy genre specification, coming together and becoming quite cohesive. This is a very eclectic recording and one that certainly rewards the listener with a palette for new and intriguing sound. This is a great disc, and one that listeners should definitely look into."

Funke Tabla and Seattle International Nights are proud to present DJ Frederic Galliano at Tost May 10th, opening for Frederic will be Akoma, featuring master drummer from Ghana, Yaw Amponsah. Akoma will do a set of live West African Palmwine style beats.

Frederic Galliano hails from Valence in the South East of France. For the past decade he has been rocking crowds in Paris and around the world.

His specialty is combining the sounds of West Africa with fresh electronic beats. He is the pre-eminent producer working in this domain, and has actively encouraged others to get on the African tip; founding his own label, Frikyiwa, in 1998 to get out new music in this vein.

His most recent albums "Sacre Live," and "Frederic Galliano presents The African Divas" are a mix of Deep House grooves, with the music of singers and instrumentalists from Mali, Guinea, and Senegal.

These albums stand out as the one of most exciting and insightful mixes of West African music with club beats. As one reviewer noted, recommending one of the albums, "DJ goes back to the motherland--doesn't make fool of himself!"

Come and see what all the excitement is about as Galliano does a solo set at Tost on May 10th.

Well...I would love to meet some of you and let you get a taste of what I do. I'm finally making it up to Seattle next week (and Tacoma on Saturday). Things are going very well for me in Portland, and I hope to make a good splash up there as well...take care...hope to see you out at Nectar on the 14th...here's the shazm:

FINALLY!

Portland's reigning electronica bad-ass will unleash his funky synthesizer fury upon the good people of Seattle!

FRIDAY, January 14

going on after the Chimpo CD Release Show

Doors open at 9pm. Cover just SIX bucks!

What is Solovox?

"It is the brainchild of keyboardist/producer Carlton Tietze III, whose deft skill on the analog ivories and catchy songwriting prowess generate much, much more than typical "electronica" squelches and blurts. Solovox's debut album, Break Out of Prism, offers the soul-bearing soar of Low era David Bowie, but played as if both Booker T and Keith Emerson sat in on keyboards."
David Clifford, Willamette Weekly

Sounding like a mix between the Chemical Brothers and Herbie Hancock, this is soulful and powerful dance music performed right in front of your eyes. Come check it out...you won't be dissapointed, Seattle.

I can't really afford one, but I need one and so I would rather get into a little more debt for a really good dependable one that will work for years than one that might break down in the middle of an important gig.

So I am open to suggestions, I have heard from two people that Macs are more dependable than PCs under performance conditions. What are your experiences?

I am planning to run ableton Live on it for my original electronic stuff.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, and will get you on the guest list for my next show December 4th at Tost.

cheers!

Deepayan is going to be chilling out in West Bengal so to make up for his absence we will have with us special guests Tom Armstrong and DJ Gringo Starr from the group Quasi Nada.

The house will rock! And we will heat up this chill November eve! As always, our love for the music will guide us, and we will explore the intersection of that affection with the motivation of your booty and excitement of your mind.
To be precise and detailed this means:

Tom Armstrong: on Brazilian percussion from Surdu to Cuica,
plus some of his own original King Frydai music
on laptop.

DJ Gringo Starr: rocking you on two turntables with dope house and latin beats.

DJ Anup: with a select set of new beats and loops (his surprise break-beat remix of the Doors “Break on Thru ”was a highlight of last months show).

DJ Advent with some delicious new Arabic and Asian massive sounds.

James Whetzel: bringing sarod, darbouka, a subtle dose of
throat singing, and a new laptop piece of
electro-palmwine, which channels the spirit
of the legendary Nigerian musician I.K. Dairo.

It will be: bahut garam! Caliente! Tellement Chaude! So hot! wallahi rah tasha ’ur an-nar fi tost! Come and feso jaiye! It will be good!
Things will get going right around 9:30pm.
This festival is run on virtually no budget. The fact that it has become so big and wonderful is a testiment to the live looping community all over the world. None of this would have been possible without the existence of Loopers Delight, founded and maintained by Kim Flint. He just told us that this incredibly informative and exciting website has over 900,000 page views per month now. Thanks Kim for all of your energy, time and financial contribution to this community.

See you all there, I hope!!!!

yours, Rick Walker (festival organizer)

ps Sadly, Concert headliner, Italy's Roberto Zorzi's has had to cancel his tour to the US because of the illness of his partner Paola. Our heart is with them both and we pray for her speedy recovery.

If you have a good night at a club in Seattle, send me a line, both me and my friend deepayan who is a killer tabla and dhol player might want to sit in. We are both wanting to broaden our exposure around town and try some different things. As for me I am the darbouka playing, sarod swinging, throat singing, talking drum, singing guy. I have played both Ghanaian (west African) percussion music, and Indian Classical music for some years, and yeah I have played guitar for 20 years too. so if you have an interesting gig where you want some extra spice to motivate some people's booties send me a mail and maybe we can work something out.
